The client

Sat Access is the ZEtelecom satellite internet service, for businesses that fibre does not reach, that are in an area poorly covered by mobile networks, or that cannot afford to be cut off from the internet. ZEtelecom installs the dish and manages the link.

The website is a single page, and it reads the offers, the legal pages and the FAQ from its parent website, ZEtelecom.

Discover Sat Access

Sat Access needed a logo of its own, one that reads as a ZEtelecom offer without being mistaken for the operator’s logo.

“sat” on the first line, “access” on the second, with round letters and a continuous stroke.

What we built

The website speaks to business owners who have a connection problem, not to satellite specialists, and it starts with that problem before presenting the solution.

  1. Block 1, The globe

A 3D Earth fills the top of the page, with its day and night sides, its clouds, the sun placed according to the date of the day and a constellation of satellites in orbit.

  2. Block 2, What customers say

Customer sentences are typed out in bubbles, up to three at a time, to set out the problem before presenting the offer.

  3. Block 3, The eligibility test

The visitor types the address of their site and the website asks ZEtelecom whether the satellite reaches it, without leaving the page.

  4. Block 4, The three plans

Satellite, Hybrid and Backup appear as cards, are detailed one by one and compared in a table that keeps two columns on a phone.

  5. Block 5, Zeppii the astronaut

The ZEtelecom mascot puts on a suit, its pupil follows the cursor, and a click on it opens a bubble that suggests the FAQ.

The hidden page

A discreet link leads to “Mars and Moon”, a page where Zeppii, the ZEtelecom mascot, tests the connection from space, with the real travel times of the signal.

The technology

The website is rendered on the server with Astro, and only the interactive blocks, the globe, the eligibility test and the comparison table, are React islands loaded on demand. The globe is drawn in WebGL with Three.js, and GSAP animates the scrolling.

It has no database or application server of its own: the eligibility test and the contact form call the ZEtelecom API, whose content is kept in memory for one minute.

The website only displays what it needs, when it needs it, to stay light. The 3D Earth is only loaded at the top of the page.

When a visitor tests their address, it is ZEtelecom that answers, and the website just displays the answer.

A test in thirty seconds

The visitor gives the address of their site, and the website tells them straight away whether the satellite reaches it. Everything happens in the page.

  1. 01Type the addressThe field suggests addresses as you type, from the French national address base, or finds the position of the device if the visitor allows it.
  2. 02The website asks the parentWhile ZEtelecom checks coverage, a planet fills up on the screen. The website waits for the answer without the visitor leaving the page.
  3. 03Eligible plans appearThe result shows the plans available at that address, with the speeds published by Starlink for the Priority plan.
